We are now pleased to announce that the Foundation has found its first new cooperation partner in Portugal in the Portugal-based encounter farm "Unter den Kiwis" (www.unterdenkiwis.com). Elena and Horst Körber run here with their family, on a several hectares large area, a Quinta, which offers all creatures a species-appropriate life and coexistence. This applies to animals that find a home here as part of a sanctuary, as well as to welcome children and adults who spend time out here. And now also to bees.
The beautiful Quinta is embedded in a magnificent natural landscape with forest, large rocks, bush and grass areas. There are no industrial settlements within a radius of many kilometers. This also applies to power plants and agro-industrial enterprises.
In the sparsely populated area, there are isolated small-scale farming structures and shepherds with their animals. The use of pesticides and other poisons is virtually non-existent. These are conditions that can be found only very sporadically in Germany. So, all in all, besides the natural environment, and especially because of the mindset of Elena and Horst Körber, the operators of the farm, an ideal place.
This is confirmed in the credo and actions of the operators:
"The Begegnungshof Unter den Kiwis is a place where people and animals can spend time together freely and mindfully in harmony with nature."
The foundation plans to place the first beehives there in the second half of this year, laying the "foundation stone" for a first research station in Portugal. A start has already been made.
The wonderful Körber family, the environment and the foundation guarantee "species-appropriate husbandry". The concordiaNATURA will provide the operators with the necessary equipment for the appropriate handling.
